(d) Magnonic Spintronics in Coupled Ferrimagnetic Bilayers Deposited by Pulsed Laser Deposition, funded by UGC–DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore. Principal Investigator: Dr. Venkata S. Gollapothu.
(II) Research Publications:
The current faculty members have to their credit around 100 research papers published in reputed international journals, reflecting their active engagement in frontier areas of physics research.
(III) Conferences, Workshops, and Seminars/Webinars:
The Department has consistently organized a variety of academic and co-curricular events that promote research, innovation, and alumni engagement. Some of them are as follows:
· International Conference on“Nano Structuring by Ion Beams (ICNIM)” 2015.
· A Two-Day School on “Quantum Mechanics: Basic Concepts and Applications” with scholarly insights from Prof. Ajoy Ghatak, retired professor of Physics, IIT Delhi (2019).
· Physics Alumni Association Meet ‘MILAN’ to foster alumni interaction with students (2019).
· Dr. J. K. Ghose Memorial Lecture on “Contemporary Physics”, which included lectures on “Wonders of Nanotechnology and Ion Beam Technology” by Prof. D. K. Avasthi, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies and “Perspectives of Laboratory Black Holes”, by Late. Prof. Supriya Kar, Delhi University, Delhi (2024).
· Inauguration of the Smart Classroom along with J.K. Ghose Memorial Lecture on ‘From Fictitious Ohm’s Law to Fantastic 5G – How fiction drives Physics?’ by Prof K. S. Daya, DEI, Dayalbagh, Agra.
(IV) Students’ Activities:
· The department organizes a wide range of academic and co-curricular activities throughout the year such as poster-making, singing, fun quizzes, debate and dumb charades to enhance learning, creativity, and collaboration among students.
· Postgraduate students regularly deliver Power Point-based seminars under faculty guidance to strengthen their communication, research presentation, and analytical skills.
· The Department serves as a centre for the National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE) conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). Participation in this examination provides students with opportunities to attend national-level experimental physics workshops and research programs.
· To foster research interest and facilitate interaction with eminent scientists, educational tours for postgraduate students to leading research institutions such as the Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) and CSIR–National Physical Laboratory (NPL) are organized
(V) Students’ Achievements:
Students of the Department of Physics consistently demonstrate academic excellence and research potential. Many have successfully qualified national-level examinations such as CSIR-NET, JRF, GATE, JEST, and JAM, securing admission to prestigious institutions including IITs, TIFR, IISERs, IPR, CSIR laboratories and NTU Singapore for higher studies and research. Several students have also received university awards and medals for outstanding academic performance.
(VI) Physics Alumni Association (PAA):
The Department is proud of its vibrant and active Physics Alumni Association (PAA), which continues to foster strong connections between the institution and its graduates. (https://paasjcagra.com) Over the years, our alumni have excelled in diverse fields ranging from scientific research and academia to administration and public service. These alumni exemplify the department’s legacy of academic excellence, leadership, and service to society. Their achievements continue to inspire current students.
