About Us
The Department of Economics has always played a significant part in the corporate life of the college. The members of the teaching staff in the department have taken a keen interest in bringing into close contact the teachers and students of the college to general masses, both rural and urban by organizing various economic and social activities outside the college.
MA classes in Economics started in 1924. Among the heads of the department the names of Rev. J. T. Goodchild, Dr. H. L. Puxley, Dr. R. S. Dwivedi and Dr. C. T. Gideon, Dr. A. P. Mishra, Dr. B. B. Maheshwari, Dr. V. U. Vishnoi, Dr. S. Srivastava, Dr. Alok Kumar deserve special mention. On account of their sincere efforts, the department has not only made progress in the academic field by producing a number of 1st Division M.A. and Ph.D. Scholars, but also has an enviable account of service to its credit in the field of Rura Development, especially during the decade 1930s-1940s and a project on MNREGA in the 2000s.
At present Dr. Neeraj Emmanuel Eusebius is the Head of Department. He has done his Ph. D in Agricultural Economics and is also a trained NCC Officer and a Rover Leader. The entire teaching faculty of the department is well qualified having experience in teaching and research.
