About the department
The Department of Accounts and Law is committed to imparting quality education in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Taxation, and Business Law. The department aims to develop strong conceptual understanding, analytical skills, and professional competence among students, preparing them for academic excellence as well as careers in commerce and allied sectors.
The curriculum is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, covering areas such as Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Income Tax, Auditing, and various aspects of Business and Corporate Laws. Emphasis is also laid on skill development through practical exposure, including Computerized Accounting, use of statistical tools, and project-based learning.

(a) Undergraduate Programme: B.Com. – Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP)
(b) Postgraduate Programme: M.Com. (Accounts and Law)
(c) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Admission through University Entrance Exam.

Achievements of the department (since its existence)
(a) Research Publications:
“The faculty members of the Accounts and Law Department are highly accomplished academics. They have collectively published mow then 65 research papers in esteemed national and international journals.
(b) Conferences, Workshops, and Seminars/Webinars:
Additionally, they have presented more then, 135 papers in conferences globally. The department faculty have also authored 30 textbooks, aligned with NEP 2020, published by renowned publishing houses.”
(c) Departmental’ Activities:
The Department aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to effectively navigate the complexities of finance and law. It provides a strong academic foundation for understanding the legal implications of business transactions as well as the financial processes within organizations. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to prepare students for professional certifications and to pursue careers in the corporate sector, public accounting, and legal practice.
Students are actively encouraged to participate in internships and practical training programs, facilitated by the Department, to gain real-world exposure and to enhance their understanding of the practical application of theoretical concepts.
- The Training & Placement Cell of St. John’s College, Agra, in collaboration with IMS, Agra, and the Department of Accounts & Law, successfully organized a One-Day Workshop on “Profile Building and Career Awareness” on campus on 10th April 2026.
- Department of Accounts & Law in collaboration with the Department of Geography organized Inter-Departmental Seminar on Legal and Economic Frameworks for Sustainable Heritage Tourism in Environmentally Sensitive Zones on October 14, 2025
- The Department of Accounts & Law organized a workshop on Research Methodology to enhance students’ research and analytical skills.
- The Faculty of Commerce in association with the IQAC of St. John’s College, Agra, organized a One-Day Workshop on SPSS in the BCA Department on April 1, 2026.
